The Only Shortbread Recipe You Will Ever Need

I've been making this shortbread for years now and it is a firm favourite of the family. A real go-to recipe when you want a simple, quick and easy crowd pleaser. When I say easy I really mean it. So grab your apron, roll up your sleeves and try for yourself!

Ingredients:

250g/90z Plain Flour

75g/30z Caster Sugar

175g/6oz Butter

Yes those really are the only ingredients you are going to need.

Method:

Get your oven ready and heating at 180 degrees.

Place all of the ingredients on to a clean surface and work together with your hands until you have a nice smooth dough. You can also do this in a mixing bowl if you prefer.

Once you have a nice smooth ball of dough, roll it out on a floured surface until approx 1/2 cm thick. Take whatever shape or size biscuit cutter you like and cut out the dough to form the biscuits.

Prick your biscuits with a fork and place on to a greased baking tray.

Pop in the oven for 10-15 mins or until lightly golden in colour.

Take out the oven and allow to cool slightly, then sprinkle with a light dusting of caster sugar.

Once cooled simply pop the kettle on, make yourself a pot of tea, put your feet up and enjoy...

For a zesty orange alternative, simply add the zest of 1 good sized orange to the ingredients at the beginning and continue the recipe as above. Trust me they will not disappoint!

Keep an eye out for some more seasonal variations on my super easy shortbread recipe.

I'd love to hear you thoughts on these, so do get in touch with your success stories.
