City Life vs Country Life

Welcome!

Gosh where to start…

Having been brought up on a dairy farm, I have developed a deep love of the countryside and all it entails. My childhood was spent running around and exploring the land surrounding the farm with my brothers – some might have considered us slightly feral to say the least.

Soon after completing my degree I moved to Zurich, Switzerland where I was able to take in all the beautiful architecture and breath taking scenery that closely surrounds the city. After a few years I decided it was time to return to the UK and I now find myself working in Mayfair for a Hedge Fund - not exactly the country life I had envisioned but exciting all the same.

I am not a natural city girl so I try to bring the country into my city life. I am living in a beautiful Victorian flat which I share with my boyfriend Alex, close to Kew Gardens and Richmond Park – it is full of period features which I love. The flat is close enough to London that I don’t have a stressful commute yet far enough away that we can retreat from the hustle and bustle at the end of a hard day.

Alex and I moved in just under a year ago and it is my aim to create a homely sanctuary full of country charm – where we can close off from the crazy world outside from time to time. I will be sharing much of my interior inspiration on this blog so keep your eyes peeled.

As well as creating our country home in the city we love to venture out to the countryside as often as we can. I love nothing more than just pulling on my ancient mucky Dubarry boots and exploring the great British countryside. Alex and I both have a strong affinity with Suffolk as both our parents are based there.

Keep your eyes on the blog to hear plenty more about rural life in Suffolk and our adventures.

You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl!
